Presentation of the Other Intelligences project at V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media
In 2022, María Castellanos participated in Test_Lab: Smart Hybrid Forms, an event held at V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media in Rotterdam, dedicated to exploring the relationships between art, technology and plant life. The session was part of Smart Hybrid Forms, a research project developed in collaboration between Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Gerrit Rietveld Academie, V2_, Zone2Source and Waag, focused on investigating new relationships between plants, machines and artificial intelligence systems.
Castellanos presented the artistic research developed with Alberto Valverde around plant communication and the creation of technological interfaces capable of recording and interpreting signals produced by plants. Through projects based on sensors, electronics, and systems for data visualization and translation, her presentation addressed the potential of technology to investigate forms of perception and communication between humans and plant organisms.
Test_Lab: Smart Hybrid Forms brought together different artistic and scientific approaches to the relationships between living organisms and technological systems. Alongside Castellanos, participants included Katažyna Jankovska, Alice Smits, Katrin Petroschkat, Andy Gracie and Saša Spačal, in a session conceived as a space for presentation, demonstration and discussion around research developed in this field.
