Building environmental monitoring devices to explore the environment surrounding plants
This workshop explores the relationships between plants and their environment through the construction of technological devices designed to expand our perception of environmental phenomena. During the activity, participants worked with sensors, electronics, and programming to develop monitoring systems capable of recording different environmental variables in the plants’ immediate surroundings.
Through a hands-on process of experimentation and prototyping, the workshop introduced accessible tools for data collection, processing, and visualization. Technology is approached as a way to engage with other organisms and understand the environmental conditions that shape the spaces they inhabit.
