Symbiotic Interaction at La Piscine during Look Forward Fashion Tech Festival
In 2017, María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde participated with Symbiotic Interaction in Look Forward Fashion Tech Festival at La Piscine – Musée d’Art et d’Industrie André Diligent in Roubaix, France. The festival explored transformations in fashion and the body through digital technologies, bringing together projects addressing wearables, new materials, interfaces and possibilities for expanding human perception.
Castellanos and Valverde presented Symbiotic Interaction, an artistic research project focused on communication between plants and humans through technological interfaces. The electrical activity of the plant is recorded through sensors and translated into stimuli that can be perceived by the person using the interface, establishing a circuit of information exchange between both organisms.
The presentation of Symbiotic Interaction in this context positioned the body interface beyond its function as a wearable device, approaching it as a tool for expanding perception and exploring relationships with other forms of life. The project thus connects technology, the human body and plant organisms to investigate new possibilities for interspecies communication.
